Regent Quarter Hosts CWPA Discussion on London’s Future Growth and Commercial Centres

London 10.06.2026 –  Endurance Land, a Member of Nan Fung Group, was delighted to welcome the Central Westminster Property Association (CWPA) to The Varnish Works at Regent Quarter for a discussion on the draft London Plan and the future of London’s commercial centres.

The event was opened by Charles Begley, Chief Executive of CWPA, followed by a keynote address from Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor of London for Planning, Regeneration and the Fire Service. The panel session, chaired by Katy Ghahremani of Make Architects, brought together Celeste Giusti of the GLA, Georgina Grant of Shaftesbury Capital, Simon Swietochowski of BNP Paribas AM Alts and Endurance Land Director Richard Rixson to explore the opportunities and challenges shaping Central London’s future growth.

Bringing together leaders from the property, planning and investment sectors, the discussion explored how London can continue to attract investment, support growth and maintain its global competitiveness.

The discussion also explored viability, investor confidence and the importance of maintaining a dynamic Central Activities Zone (CAZ), highlighting the need for flexibility within the planning system and continued investment in existing commercial centres.

“London’s future growth depends on maintaining a strong and dynamic Central Activities Zone, supporting investment in high-quality commercial space, and ensuring our planning framework provides the flexibility and confidence needed for businesses to thrive. Through the draft London Plan, we are seeking to strengthen London’s global competitiveness while creating a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient city.”

During the panel, Richard Rixson highlighted how London’s workspace offer must evolve to meet changing occupier requirements. AI is increasingly emerging as a major driver of demand for commercial space, with requirements similar to those of the life sciences sector, including adaptable, resilient buildings, strong digital infrastructure and sufficient power capacity.

This shift is being seen first-hand at Regent Quarter, where the recent leasing success with OpenAI reflects growing demand for high-quality, adaptable workspace in well-connected, amenity-rich locations.

The selection of The Varnish Works reflected the discussion’s central themes, with Regent Quarter illustrating the value of carefully curated, mixed-use, innovation-led destinations in supporting London’s future growth. Located at the heart of King’s Cross, the estate demonstrates how a dynamic mixed-use environment can foster innovation, attract world-leading occupiers and strengthen London’s appeal to businesses, talent and investment.
